Ba Ba Buttons is inspired by my nature loving, animal hugging daughter Ella and by my three years spent living in England. The natural fabrics in Europe seem to have such an incredibly unique quality. The cotton seems softer, the wool feels thicker, and the silk feels…well silkier. This inspired me to use as many of these natural fabrics in my classroom teaching and home life. Now as a mother, nothing seems more important than clothing my baby with the most natural and safest products there are. Of course it doesn't hurt that the animals are darling as well.
The 100% white cotton short and long sleeve bodysuits ** have been purchased abroad from an English company called Marks and Spencers. The applique is made of 100% wool ranging from all types from Shetland to cashmere to Uruguayan wool. Regardless of design, the 'buttons' are always made from 100% wool, thus 'Ba Ba Buttons.' The applique stitching is even 100% cotton thread and the self placed label is cotton canvas. Because of the animal shapes and variability in wool texture, each applique and each Ba Ba Buttons product is a little bit different than the next. Also adding to the uniqueness, the availability of the wool can dictate the type and color of applique I am able to make at any one time. When ordering a Ba Ba Buttons product, you can be sure it is one of a kind and there is nothing exactly like it.
I feel that the quality of the natural fibers and the uniqueness of the appliques speak for themselves but if you are still not convinced, feel for yourself. Even after multiple washes, the 100% cotton bodysuits will stay thick and soft unlike the mass marketed bodysuits you find everywhere else and the applique will continue to be as sweet as they were when hand sewn in place.
